183. How Samantha Wills used the magic of creativity to guide her entrepreneurial journey

When I started this podcast back in 2021, the number 1 person on my dream guest wishlist was Samantha Wills.

She’s my creative inspiration, the reason I got into marketing and someone I’ve admired for well over 12 years.

And today’s guest on the How I Do Content Podcast is the Samantha Wills.

Samantha Wills is an award-winning designer, author, speaker, and advocate for the arts.

She founded one of Australia’s most popular jewellery brands from her dining table at just 21 (which I was OBSESSED with), and which went on to be hailed as “Australia’s biggest export since Vegemite.”

Her debut book, Of Gold & Dust, became an instant bestseller, chronicling her journey with raw vulnerability and humour, revealing the realities of a creative founder behind the highlight reel of social media and public appearances. It’s one of my favourite books and I recommend all female founders read it.

And now Samantha has ventured into children's literature writing Marigold’s Magic Stars to inspire children to recognise the importance and intelligence of their creativity. The magic of Marigold’s story is that this message is equally as important for adults, especially business owners.

I was lucky enough to chat with Samantha about all things creativity – including how she’s used her creativity as an asset in her entrepreneurial journey and her advice if you’re feeling a little creatively burnt out right now.
